The idea behind my artwork was to show the stereotypes in appearances. I wanted people to know that no matter what you look like, it does justify what's inside you. Contrast was a big part of this piece, the different sides can show different ways that people think, some people are really creative and see all the colors, while others like to stick to black and white, truth and lie. I guess the whole point of this is to not judge a book by its cover, what's on the pages can be the exact opposite of what you thought.

This is the piece I'm working on for the Heart and Soul contest. My idea is to make this into like an old, wanted poster, like in all the fairy tale stories. I wanted the girl to be a witch and to make her like half cat, kind of tying in the whole witch black cat relationship. This is a lot more harder then I personally want it to be because I'm not the best at drawing faces and I can't get her freaking mouth right because every time I draw it, she turns out too happy looking and I want her to look dark and mysterious but its not working out so well :(.
So this is one of donation pieces that I made. I'm super pumped to see the upcoming Disney film "Big Hero 6" which comes out Nov. 7 (that's tomorrowwww), so I decided to create a little Baymax. I'm hoping someone will appreciate this piece because it is taking a lot of will to not keep it for myself. I started with a simple pencil sketch of Baymax and then I went in with acrylics and really tried to get the shading. This was the first time I really did shading with paint and I think it turned out pretty okay.
This was something I just kind of drew. It started out as just a cool concept in my head but I was like, "hey I'm an okay artist, lets try this out." So I did and this is what happened. I just used color pencils for the coloring. I also wanted to use the different colors of paper to add something more and I liked how it turned out, I was hoping it would be slightly creepy because I love creepy twists on innocent things (don't get me started on the things people do with Snow White, it is just freaking awesome). I was originally going to make this a donation but I think it's too big (?) so I might just add it to my wall of art, i don't know.

I decided to do the random word from the dictionary project and I got the word jellyfish. I started to experiment by drawing different species of jellyfishes and decided upon the Spotted Jellyfish. I had a hard time figuring out how I wanted the tentacles so i redrew them a couple of times to see the style I liked best.
This is just a rough draft of the final project that I drew up on the back of my planning sheet. I decided to add some rocket ships, giving the piece a more surreal vibe.
This is the final product of my project, I decided that I wanted to make the white spots on the jellyfish really pop out so I went over them with white acrylic paint. It is hard to tell but I colored in the background with light pink so there wouldn't be so much negative space, I also added a few bubbles here and there. I think the dark, bold colors of the rocket ships make them stand out more against the softer, blended colors of the Spotted Jellyfish.
